Ultralight DXing Report - Launceston Tasmania - 16/10/2014

Date: 16/10/2014
Time: 20:40 - 22:05 AEDST
Location: Home, Launceston Tasmania
Radio: 7.5” Loopstick Tecsun PL-380
Total stations logged: 156
New stations logged: 2 - 4CC (666kHz) & 6GF (648kHz)

This was my first serious ultralight dxing session since June 2014. Overall I logged 156 stations in this session including two new stations, 4CC (666kHz) & 6GF (648kHz). Both of these were heard late in the session, on my last and second last passes of the band. 4CC came out of the noise and I was able to hear a faint reference to a local address. In the case of 6GF local weather being heard fairly clearly allowed me to add it to the log, this signal disappeared not long after this back in to the signal of 2NU on the same frequency.

A couple of frequencies of note were 1251kHz which had really bad band noise, 2DU was just able to be added to the log for this session but it was line ball until a later pass of the band where the signal was slightly better. 1575kHz was also badly effected by this with the HPON station from Wollongong being right down in the noise with only short bursts of audio being able to be received.
